At Well Being Physical Therapy, we know that healing is not just about treating the body — it’s also about creating a safe, supportive environment where patients feel respected and heard. That’s why we practice trauma-informed physical therapy, designed to support the whole person and create the best possible conditions for recovery. The Trauma-Informed Care Implementation Resource Center identifies six key principles of trauma-informed care. Here’s how we bring each of them to life in our clinic:

We believe a sense of calm is essential to recovery. Everything in our clinic, from the colors on the walls, the artwork we choose, the sheets, curtains, and furniture, has been selected to create a space where patients feel “at home”, physically and emotionally safe. Our staff also supports each other, in part, through active listening, sharing knowledge, or stocking the snacks.

From your first phone call, we strive to answer your questions with honesty and clarity. Our front desk will connect you with a therapist if they cannot answer your question directly. Then, at your first visit, after taking time to get to know you and understand your goals, your therapist will provide a good faith estimate of your plan of care. This estimate includes both the expected number of visits and the recommended frequency. As a result, you will know what to expect right from the start and can make confident, informed decisions about your treatment. and frequency of visits, so that you know what to expect and can make decisions with confidence. While we always prioritize your privacy, we also recognize the power of shared experience. We work closely with the community to stay on top of groups, resources, and other potentially helpful information outside of the clinic. We Patients tell us about books, podcasts, or providers who have helped them, and we appreciate being able to share those resources with others. This sense of community reminds us that no one is alone in their healing journey.

We believe in leveling the playing field. At Well Being, all patients are treated with the same respect, regardless of background, gender, race, or orientation. Your voice matters in creating your plan of care, and enthusiastic consent is always central to treatment. We see care as a partnership.

Collaboration also extends beyond our clinic walls. We frequently communicate and coordinate with related providers — such as mental health therapists, physicians, nutritionists, or other specialists — to ensure your care is cohesive and supports the whole picture of your health.

Our goal is to help you feel confident in your own healing. We encourage you to set goals, ask questions, and share feedback. Your therapist’s role is not to dictate, but to guide, support, and equip you with the tools you need for long-term wellness.

Every patient brings unique experiences and perspectives. We are committed to listening, learning, and adapting so that care is respectful and responsive to your individual needs.

It’s understandable to be hesitant to continue to seek help if you’ve had negative experiences with providers in the past. We understand. Call us now for more information on how this can be different.
